About Me

My photo
First off I am a girly girl. I love all things sparkly and pink but just the same a good boxing match or Kung Fu movie still gets my heart racing. I'm the youngest of two children raised on the West Coast now living On the East. Happily married with a 4 legged child. lol I've been a big goof all my life and love to make people laugh. I learned to cook when I was 6 yrs old and really enjoy it. Things that make me feel good...music, dancing, fitness and watching a awesome movie. Oh and did I mention how much I LOVE makeup? My middle name is "clearance" because that's where you'll see me shopping wherever I go! lol I'm a bargain diva and never pay full price. ;)

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios Spring 2011

Ok so maybe the excitement is dying down a little bit and the 15 minutes of fame are over but I'm still very excited about these trio palettes. Three weeks ago before their release I was in a mad rush around town hoping from one Walgreens to the next with fingers crossed I would find the golden ticket.
After a call to the Walgreens down the street and a conversation with the sweet cosmetic counter lady she put some palettes on hold for me. I had no idea what she had put aside or which ones they were. All I knew is that I wanted them and I wanted them badly!
I get to the store, talk to the lady and she pulls out 4 palettes for me. I was so freaking excited I had a Price As Right moment and think I scared her. Haha! Anyway with my first addictive taste and four new palettes in hand I was determined to find the other two. It took me a couple more tries but I struck gold at the final store and was so excited I didn't know what to do with myself. Along with my now complete set of six I also picket up "Sweet As Candy" which is a trio that you can pick up anytime. I heard so much about it on YT I had to try it out.
As of now I have only used one of the six Spring Collection Trio palettes. I just opened "Silent Treatment" today and I must say the colors are gorgeous! I've used "Sweet As Candy" three times so far and it just looks so...yummy! baby soft pink, brown and a soft cream color go so well together.

Now that these palettes are available nationwide I highly recommend you get all six of the Spring Collection trios as well as some of the other trios and new nail polish shades and metallic eyeliners.
Walgreens has Wet N Wild buy one get one free or half off quite frequently so check your local add for sales before you go.
I don't know what Wet N Wild has done to change their products but they need to keep it up cause It's awesome!
I didn't do swatches since you can see those all over YouTube and blogs but I took some close up pictures for you guys. The trio at the begining and the end is "Sweet As Candy". Spring Collection trios start with the second palette shown....

"I Dream of Greenie"
 "I Got Good Jeans"
"I'm Feeling Retro"
"Silent Treatment"
"I'm Getting Sunburned"
"Spoiled Brat"

e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick

Love these! I hope ELF comes out with even more shades because the are fabulous! A must try for only $1 each!
The first two pictures above are the 3 Luscious Liquid Lipsticks I purchased along with 1 Hypershine Gloss. Even though I only bought one Hypershine and didn't intend to do a review I gave it honorable mention in my YouTube video. Often compared to Stila's lip glaze at a cost of $22 each ELF's Hypershine Gloss is a very close runner up for just a buck!

e.l.f. The Beauty Encyclopedia SPARKLE EYE EDITION

Part of the Beauty Encyclopedia series this is one of three eyeshadow palettes available. At a retail cost of only $5 this is yet another amazing deal by elf. I have only used mine for a couple of days and overall I really love it but there are a few things that elf could improve on in making in more user friendly.
First thing that annoyed me was the fact that after swiping the powder eye shadows they flake like crazy and make a huge mess everywhere including into the cream shadows. All I did to fix the problem was use a damp cloth to wipe around the corners and some clean Q-tips.  There is a protective plastic cover over the eye shadows but It's a bit thin and flimsy. I noticed even with slight use you will see dents and scratches start to form in the plastic right away. The front cover is held in place by two strong magnets and once you open the booklet on the left you'll see how-to instructions. These are basic and easy to follow but the weird part is step #1 suggests that you line your eyes first. I think the vast majority of people would agree that you line your eyes as a final eye makeup application. Idk maybe that's just me? lol
Ok on to the powder shadows themselves. The colors are gorgeous! To the touch really smooth and soft. They glide onto your eyelids very nicely and blend with little effort. Pretty much all of the shades are well pigmented except for one. The color in the upper left corner next to the white barely shows at all. I've never seen an eyeshadow do that before, just have no color. So what I did is use the white cream eye shadow as a base then apply this "ghost color" over about 5 times. After doing this I was finally able to see a pretty shimmering caramel shade.
All of the other colors only take one swipe and It's an instant color payoff.  As far as the two cream eye shadows one white and one pink they are super creamy and crease like crazy! Holy crap! lol
They however are very pretty especially the white shade but I don't recommend them for use on their own. The are way too creamy and sheer to use as eye colors. I find they are best used as a base for the powder shadows. All you need is a small amount to smooth over your eyelids before applying a powder. This booklet also includes a double ended applicator and a kohl eyeliner in the shade Coffee. One side is a pointed black sponge applicator and the other side is a small blending brush. Since I already have my own brushes to use I didn't bother with this but it would make a good starter or practice tool for someone. The brown eyeliner is something I would normally never use but I figured what the heck so I tried it out. To my surprise I really liked it! It made a perfect lined look for the daytime that was soft but well defined.  Overall even with the few annoying things about this Palette I would still highly recommend it. For a price of only $5 bucks the quality is excellent and could easily be a dupe to Urban Decay Palettes.

I took some pictures of the Sparkle Eye Edition Palette from various angles and views so you could get a close up on the color details as well as modeled a makeup look I did on myself.  There are also swatches ( powder shadows, creams and kohl liner) I did on my arm with and without an eye shadow base so you could see the deference. Even though most of the colors are really pigmented I still suggest using a eye primer or eye base. It just makes the colors last longer and look more intense.

e.l.f. Essentials Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils

Search Amazon.com for e l f makeup I am absolutely loving these Shimmer Pencils! I heard so many great things about them but they far exceeded my expectations. The quality is amazing for the price. At only a $1 each they are available in 9 gorgeous shades. I only bought 7 to try but will definitely get the other two with my next order. The colors are very pigmented and have a beautiful shimmer to them. There is no drag or pulling just a smooth and creamy finish and feel on your skin. They blend so well and are perfect to wear alone or pair up with your favorite eyeshadows. These are easily dupes of high end counterparts I have seen at sephora.com costing $8 to $18.50 each.

These lovely Shimmer Pencils are easily worth more than their modest worth of a dollar. I highly recommend them and intend on stocking up with more soon.In the first photo I have smudged some of the shades so you can see how nicely they blend. The second photo shows each shade with only one swipe. Color swatches in above pictures are as follows from Top left to bottom right:
Blissful Blush
Twinkle Teal
Black Bandit
Second row:
Gunmetal
Plum Passion
Precious Pink
Iconic Ivory
